Becoming an elegant woman does not require one to spend money on each new skin care product that declares itself to have the newest state of the art research. Expensive skin creams need not be included in your beauty regimen. There are some natural products that do well in taking care of your skin without additives or toxins. One may use a pretty jar to put them in to dress them up or hide them away in their beauty basket for safe-keeping. An elegant woman never reveals the secrets of her beauty regimen except to consult with her closest friends in private. Skin care as well as the full beauty regimen should be carried out systematically in a timely manner. That is not to say that an elegant woman may not enjoy her routines as such. Part of the joy of being an elegant woman is the full knowledge and confidence that she is taking great care of herself. Simple skin care begins with consistency and effort.
*Upon rising splash cold water on your face.
Never use soap in the morning as it washes away the nourishing oils that have protected your skin while sleeping. (The exception to this is the young woman who is still experiencing an overproduction of oils in her skin.)
Performing strength exercises such as yoga or pilates and aerobic exercise such as dance, walking or running is part of a good skin care regimen. This ensures that one has optimal circulation and causes us to sweat which is the body’s way of ridding ourselves of toxins.
*Dry skin brushing
After exercise is the time to use dry skin brushing. Use a natural brush with stiff bristles as one can stand. Brush your skin in small circular motions as you move gradually up towards the heart. If you have a history of poor health/blood clots speak to your doctor before you try skin brushing. It must be done with care for the body. Dry skin brushing is good for circulation as well as exfoliation.
If it is the tradition of the ladies in your culture or region to shave your body then do so at this time in your regimen every morning to maintain a clean and smooth appearance. Should you need to address facial hair, do so on a day or a time that you can spend privately. Take your time to do it carefully and leave your skin bare for a time afterward to allow it to recover from the stress.
Each morning after exercise, skin brushing, and shaving is the time to shower or bathe. One may use an antibacterial soap if your immune system is poor or an elegant french or Italian-milled soap. Shower gels with moisturizers are lovely as well. You may find these specialty items at liquidation stores for a frugal buy. Cleanse your whole body carefully and completely. Consistent cleanliness is one of the most important aspects of being an elegant woman. One may be dressed in the finest of clothes or be part of the highest society and yet not considered elegant if they are not clean.
Use natural products to moisturize your skin such as coconut oil which has its own pleasant fragrance or olive oil that you may add a few drops of scent or essential oil to for a heavenly fragrance. Cover every inch of your body to deter the dry winter wind or the effects of water and sun in the summer. Moisturizing every day assures the elegant woman that she is beautiful and glowing.
Elegant daytime makeup is understated. It enhances a woman’s features but does not draw attention to her.
*Start with the canvas of clean skin. Makeup should be applied after the elegant morning routine that includes exercise and shower.
*Daytime foundation should be sheer. It should never be heavy or of any other shade than matches your skin. Using a tinted moisturizer ensures that your foundation is invisible or one may mix equal parts foundation and moisturizer for the same effect.
*Apply a neutral or nude shade of eye shadow to each eye lid to create a lovely canvas for your eyeliner. Never used a dark shade for day. Always use a color that is rather close to your natural skin tone. It should never be noticeably darker or lighter than your own skin. Set the shadow with a bit of face powder using a large fluffy face brush.
*Now apply a brown or gray eyeliner according to your skin tone. Avoid using black or blue as they are too harsh to be considered elegant for daytime makeup. Eyeliner should be applied impeccably with attention to detail. It should never be applied in a hurry or in a sloppy manner. Eyeliner applied alone to the edge of the lashes is always elegant, leaving the lower lashes without. This gives the eye understated elegance. For enduring eyeliner, line the upper lashes with a crayon eyeliner then set it with eyeshadow of the same shade over it. Finish by gently smudging the top of the liner with a cotton swab.
*Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks, avoiding excess. One may also sweep a bit of blush lightly to the eyelid if so desired. Remember understated rather than a bold sweep of color for day. A few dots of lipstick applied with the ring finger and then gently blended with fingertips also gives natural color if applied with discretion.
*Finish and set makeup by applying a light bronzer or powder according to season to the entire face very lightly. Using a subtle color that is one shade or so darker than your foundation and sweeping it over the highlights of the face makes for a natural glow that helps to avoid the fake or overdone look of makeup.
It is surmised that riches equal elegance. This is simply not the case. Elegance may be studied if the woman was not raised with lessons in manners or style. The study of elegance is not limited to social class or endless bank accounts. It is the determination to become a lady of gentle nature whose kindness, grace, and style reflect the subtlety of quality. One does not need a vast amount of funding to accomplish this task. An elegant woman need only to be quietly frugal with her funds so as to buy quality pieces of clothing and home decor. Quantity is never elegant but a small number of quality items reflects her conscientious and responsible nature. The less one has, the less one has to manage. The elegant woman keeps things simple as well as efficient by taking great care of a few fine things. Worn or broken items that may not be mended well are to be replaced as soon as she is financially able to do without compromising the family bank account. She does not run up her credit buying needless things to satisfy her inhibitions. Planning well her wardrobe as well as her household buying she is rewarded with an outstanding reputation as well as a peaceful home.
